Michael Brown
Michael has been a loyal client of ours since our very first public sale back in 2021, as he has a special attachment to Mexico and Mexico City. Based in Brooklyn for the last ten years along with his partner Duy, Michael runs SPEAKLOW, a beautifully curated and eclectic collection of objects, furniture, and books, which also happens to be their apartment!
As a vintage collector, Michael is always on the lookout for something sophisticated and unique to add to his collection. He has a keen eye for detail and appreciates the beauty in everything he buys. Aside from his passion for clothing and textiles, Michael is also an avid reader (as we witnessed from his incredible book collection) and enjoys exploring different art forms. We couldn't be happier that he's such a supporter of our designs. Last but not least, he doesn't take himself too seriously! We all love good sense of humor.
It was an absolute pleasure to be invited into the universe of SPEAKLOW and witness Michael's unique taste and appreciation for beauty. Check out the small interview below.
How did you start shaping your collection?
I've been collecting something for as long as i can remember. I especially love objects formed by nature or primitive objects that were created for some unknown purpose.

What’s the best part of creating a home/working space/creative hub?
Living in a space that is also your work is like living in a 3 dimensional mood board. Speaklow is an ever-changing and evolving design lab & retail experiment.
What’s the first thing that drives you to an object?
Something that you know was loved by someone else long before I ever found it, if you know the story behind it even better.
